The Chapel at Sandy Hook

I spent Saturday shooting Nick and Erin's wedding with Michael Gross Photography at Fort Hancock in Sandy Hook, NJ. The Historic Chapel is the perfect place for a small wedding. They had 75 guests, great food, and lots of cute DIY touches.

Seriously nice touch getting that reflection in the rings, looks like wood grain! Nice shooting with you as always.

The petite madeleine represents the experience of being transported back in time by sensory memory. This plump little cake appears in Marcel Proust’s novel "À la recherche du temps perdu" (Remembrance of Things Past); upon tasting the cake the narrator is physically consumed by a flashback to a childhood memory.
When I read about the encounter with the petite madeleine, I instantly thought about the power of images to recreate the past and interpret emotions. In my approach to photography, I think about capturing not only what is happening in front of me, but also what it feels like being in this moment. I hope that people are able to slip into the scene of my images and relive whatever memory emerges.
